E-rate Funding Window Dates Announced
USAC announced this week that the Funding Year 2016 application window will open February 3 and close April 29. If you've already signed up for your account in the new E-rate Productivity Center (EPC or the Portal), good for you! If not, you should do so as soon as possible.
As USAC noted in its news brief announcing the window dates, you can set up your account in the USAC Portal, assign user rights, and establish or update your profile. For more information on how to use the Portal, visit USAC's website, or if you have questions and want to speak with someone who can help, call USAC at (888) 203-8100.
Of course, applicants do not have to wait for the window to open to post their FCC Form 470 and begin the competitive bidding process. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to complete all steps of the competitive bidding process. The window is 87 days -- which USAC says is about two weeks longer than usual -- but that time flies by quickly and spring break should be factored in as well. And with the new functionalities of the Portal, there might be unanticipated glitches that slow down your application.
