FCC seeks comment on Form 470 Drop Down Menu
On October 1, 2019, the FCC issued a public notice seeking comment
on the Form 470 “drop down” menu on the online form.
Specifically, the Commission seeks comment on whether and
how these drop-down menu choices may be improved to minimize the potential for
applicant confusion, address concerns about the current FCC Form 470 drop-down
menu options, and to reduce administrative burdens on applicants and service
providers. The “drop down” menu has been an issue for a few years as applicants
have struggled to select the correct choices on the drop down menu, and the
Commission has directed USAC not to deny funding for potentially affected
applications.
Comments are due October 31 and replies are due November
15.
WCB and OMD also released a letter providing
guidance to USAC regarding FY 2019 issues with the Form 470.
Specifically, the Bureau directed USAC not to deny or rescind funding solely
because the applicant selected the “Internet Access: ISP Service Only” option
and subsequently selected service that delivers Internet access to its
premises.
